Summary

Impulse Defender does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your device.

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.sync and chrome.storage.local). This includes:

• Your hourly wage or salary (used only to calculate life-cost)
• Saved items and cooldown timers
• Your settings and preferences
• Usage statistics (money saved, impulses defended)

If you use Chrome Sync, your settings may sync across your Chrome browsers via your Google account. This is handled entirely by Chrome, not by us.

Data Collection

We collect zero data. Specifically:

• No analytics or tracking scripts
• No data sent to any server
• No cookies
• No user accounts
• No third-party services

Permissions Explained

• storage — Saves your settings and items locally on your device
• alarms — Runs cooldown timers in the background
• notifications — Alerts you when a cooldown expires
• activeTab — Detects shopping sites to show the nudge banner
• host permissions — Injects the nudge banner on known shopping sites (Amazon, eBay, etc.)

Accountability Buddy Feature

If you use the Accountability Buddy feature, the extension opens your default email or SMS app with a pre-filled message. The extension itself does not send any emails or messages — it simply opens a mailto: or sms: link. No contact information is stored on any server.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time from the extension's Settings page using the "Reset All Stats" and "Clear All Saved Items" buttons. Uninstalling the extension also removes all stored data.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new date.
